  • Travel regularly to Japan to inspect tea farms, assess production processes and ensure the quality and authenticity of tea products.
  • Apply specialist knowledge of Japanese tea culture, traditional tea ceremonies and matcha when selecting products and evaluating suppliers.
  • Assess tea quality, cultivation methods, harvesting techniques and production standards.
  • Negotiate purchasing prices, commercial terms and long-term supplier agreements.
  • Review, interpret, negotiate and draft international supplier contracts, applying legal knowledge to identify risks and protect the company's interests.
  • Manage supplier performance, product quality, delivery schedules and international procurement arrangements.
  • Conduct market research, cost analysis and supplier evaluations to identify sourcing opportunities and improve commercial value.
  • Manage procurement budgets and ensure purchasing activities comply with contractual, commercial and regulatory requirements.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • A recognised degree in Law, preferably with knowledge and practical experience in commercial law, contract law and international business transactions.
  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or commercial management, including international sourcing and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong legal expertise in reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and international supplier agreements, with the ability to identify contractual risks and protect the company's interests.
  • Specialist knowledge of Japanese tea culture, traditional tea ceremonies, matcha and Japanese green tea varieties, supported by relevant certificates or formal training.
  • Good understanding of Japanese tea cultivation, harvesting, processing and quality assessment, including the ability to inspect and evaluate tea products.
  • Ability to travel regularly to Japan to inspect tea plantations, assess production standards and establish relationships with local tea farmers and suppliers.
  • Excellent commercial negotiation, communication and analytical skills, including supplier evaluation, cost analysis, procurement budgeting and international business relationship management.
  • Ability to combine legal qualifications, procurement expertise and specialist Japanese tea knowledge to manage international sourcing, supplier contracts and product quality effectively.
